The Roman Baths
Client: Bath & North East Somerset Council
Location: Bath, UK
Size: 2,000 m²
Timeframe: 2006–2011
Role: Design Lead

The Roman Baths is one of the most iconic and best-preserved ancient sites in the UK—a Scheduled Ancient Monument and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bath. Over the course of more than a decade, Event worked in close partnership with the client team to deliver a series of phased interpretation projects that brought this extraordinary site back to life for modern audiences.

As Design Lead, I oversaw the creative development of immersive and accessible visitor experiences throughout the site. The approach combined cutting-edge projection, soundscapes, and interactives with sensitive conservation and display of archaeological materials. Life-size projections animate the ancient spaces with scenes from daily Roman life—priests, citizens, and soldiers appear to move through the ruins, providing a vivid sense of time and place.

Multimedia reconstructions and scale models help visitors grasp the original scale and architecture of the complex, while beautifully displayed artefacts add depth and authenticity to the experience. The result is a powerful blend of storytelling, scholarship, and sensory immersion that connects today’s visitors with the world of Roman Bath as it once was.
