Central Bank of Iraq – Museum Concept
Client: Central Bank of Iraq
Location: Baghdad, Iraq
Timeframe: 2016
Role: Design Lead & Creative Direction
We were commissioned to develop a concept for a museum located in the lobby of the new Central Bank of Iraq building, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects. The museum was envisioned as a space to tell the story of the origins and evolution of banking—both globally and within Iraq’s own rich economic history.
As Design Lead, I developed a creative vision that responded to the architectural context while offering an accessible and engaging narrative experience. The design aimed to bridge the ancient with the contemporary, using immersive storytelling, media, and artefacts to explore the development of trade, currency, and finance from early Mesopotamian civilisations to the present day.
Though developed to concept stage, the project demonstrated the potential for banking and cultural institutions to merge, using public spaces to inspire reflection on the foundations of modern society.
